Moving to Berlin at Christmastime is a mixed thing Putting out the Tannenbaum, but only gifts for three Watching how the Kinder run through markets with their friends Assuming that community will find you in the new year But at the moment, progress is good And we're there on your screen And we will make a stupid inside joke to make you feel Like you're connected even in Berlin at Christmastime You won't have to worry how bloodlines are on holidays Biting on our frozen tongues, and fretting what they'll say Showing our dysfunction to the Internet for empathy Leaning on our friends to be a sort of chosen family I'll admit I'm bummed that you're gone And we can't go for beers But you can text me stupid inside jokes to make me feel Like we're family while you're in Berlin at Christmastime In Berlin at Christmastime Internet at Christmastime In Berlin zu Weihnachten

Frosted window panes, candles gleaming inside Painted candy canes on the tree Santa's on his way, he's filled his sleigh With things, things for you and for me It's that time of year when the world falls in love Every song you hear seems to say "Merry Christmas! May your New Year's dreams come true" And this song of mine in three-quarter time Wishes you and yours the same thing, too It's that time of year when the world falls in love Every song you hear seems to say "Merry Christmas! May your New Year's dreams come true" And this song of mine in three-quarter time Wishes you and yours the same thing, too

about

The happiest of holidays to you and yours. If you have a few minutes to spare between gift purchases and office parties, I humbly suggest listening to this new single, which I wrote for a friend who just moved abroad. And it's backed by a classic: The Christmas Waltz, which I had somehow never heard before!

I am deeply indebted to the several humans, credited below, for giving me some of their precious holiday time to help me assemble these recordings.

The sentiment of the single is simple: the world is pretty small these days because of the Internet, and that's actually kind of great. To wit: everyone on this recording tracked their own parts and sent them to me digitally; Scott recorded his part on his phone, and Alex lives in Australia. This version of the band will never ever exist in person -- but it exists here, and that's only possible because it's 2018.

You may have noticed that this the first Completions release in three years. Please expect more jams and live performance soon. I am writing a ton these days, and I'm really happy with what's coming out.

Find some time to rest in the rest of your year, and I'll see you in 2019!
